Ports and marine

Propulsion, thruster, deck machinery and port crane motors with DNV type approval, built beside Jebel Ali Port.

Electric propulsion motors in a ship’s engine room

What matters here

Electric and hybrid propulsion is changing how ships are built and refitted. Our Jebel Ali works builds water-cooled propulsion motors from 300 kW to 5 MW, thruster motors, deck machinery motors and hoist motors for port cranes, all with DNV type approval and built to class rules.

For refits we start with a 3D scan of the engine room so the new motor fits existing hatches and shaft lines. Our marine engineers join the vessel in dry dock and stay through sea trials.

Questions from marine customers

Which classification societies do you work with?

Our motors hold DNV type approval as standard, and we build to the rules of other major classification societies on request, with their survey at our factory.

Can you supply motors to shipyards outside the Gulf?

Yes. Motors ship from Jebel Ali Port to yards worldwide. In the region, our Doha, Muscat and Manama centres support commissioning.

Do you service motors at sea?

Our marine engineers fly out to vessels in port, and can sail with the ship when a repair needs it.
