We were the people getting paged

Tessel was started in 2022 by two data engineers who spent too many mornings reading failure logs.

Our story

Lena ran a data platform with 1,200 dbt models. Mateo built the lineage tools it ran on. Most of the failures they fixed were the same few problems in new places, and most of their alerts were symptoms of one cause. Tessel is the tool they wanted: one that finds the cause, writes the boring fix and leaves the decisions to people.

Lena Okafor

Co-founder and CEO

Led the data platform at a logistics scale-up in Dubai and spent four years on call for 1,200 dbt models. Started Tessel so nobody else has to.
Mateo Rossi

Co-founder and CTO

Built query planners and lineage tools before Tessel. Writes the graph code and still reviews every new fix pattern.
Noura Al Ketbi

Head of Customer Engineering

Runs onboarding and most of our demos, in Arabic and English. Former analytics engineer who has moved three companies in the region to dbt.

Staff Engineer, fix engine

Writes the rules that decide when a fix is safe to propose, and the tests that prove it.
