Starting somewhere new can feel big for a six-year-old, and for their grown-ups too. Here is exactly what happens on your child’s first afternoon with us, so you can talk it through together beforehand.
Before the day
Once your place is confirmed, we send you a short registration form to complete online: emergency contacts, who can collect, allergies and medicines, and photo consent. It takes about ten minutes, and we read every one before the first session.
The ride from school
If we collect from school, a leader your child will recognise from a photo we send you will be at the school’s pick-up point straight after the bell, in a green Sprout Club T-shirt, and will ride with them on our minibus. New children are paired with a buddy who has been coming for a while.
At the Lab House
Snack first, then the big question of the day. New children get their own lab coat with their name on the pocket and a short tour: where the toilets are, where the quiet corner is, and where the fire exits are.
- A leader checks in with each new child at least three times.
- Nobody has to do anything they don’t want to, including the loud experiments.
- If your child is unsettled, we call you. It is rare, but we always will.
Collection
Pick-up is from 16:45 for show and tell, and by 17:00 at the latest. Only the people named on the registration form can collect, and we will check your Emirates ID the first time we meet you.
Any questions before the day, call me on +971 4 555 0855 or send a WhatsApp to +971 50 555 0855. I am in the office every weekday from 9:00.
