Trademarks
Protect your brand name and logo in the UAE
Trademark search, filing and registration with the Ministry of Economy from AED 6,500 per class, government fees included. Most marks register in 3–5 months.
What we handle
A UAE trademark gives you the exclusive right to your name or logo in the classes you choose, for ten years at a time. We start with a search so you don’t pay to file a mark that will be refused, then file, follow the examination and answer any objection.
Daniel Mensah leads our trademark desk. He’ll tell you which of the 45 classes your business actually needs, and whether to file the word, the logo or both.
The steps
-
Availability search
We search the register for identical and similar marks and send a written opinion.
-

We agree the classes and the description of goods or services.
-
Filing
Filed with the Ministry of Economy; you get the filing receipt.
-
Examination
The mark is examined, then published for a 30-day opposition period.
-

Questions about trademarks
Do I need a UAE trademark if I have one abroad?
Yes. Trademarks are territorial, so a UK, EU or US registration doesn’t protect you here. If you filed abroad in the last six months you can claim that date as your priority date.
Can I use my brand while the application is pending?
Yes, and most clients do. Once the mark is registered, your protection dates back to the filing date.
What if someone objects?
We reply to the objection or opposition and tell you honestly whether it’s worth defending. Most are settled by narrowing the description of goods or services.
Do you cover the rest of the GCC?
We file in the UAE ourselves and coordinate filings in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait through registered agents in each country.
